THE MUSIC OF STRANGERS: YO-YO MA AND THE SILK ROAD ENSEMBLE | D. Morgan Neville| M | USA
Film Gala Fundraiser to help our Northern neighbours.
The recent floods have been devestating for people and communities in the Northern Rivers, including some of the towns hit worst like Lismore and Murwillambah. As small regional towns, it’s important to help each other through tough times so we have decided to hold a film gala fundraiser to help our neighbours to the north – the same way we would want to be helped if the tables were turned.
100% of funds raised from the event will go to the Northern Rivers Arts Flood Appeal, to provide artists in the region who have lost their livelihoods to get back on their feet. Get behind this important cause and come make some noise for our northern neighbours with The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble – the extraordinary new film from Morgan Neville, the director of the Oscar®-winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom.
Spanning the globe, this is the celebratory story of the renowned international musical collective created by legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The feature-length documentary follows this group of diverse instrumentalists, vocalists, composers, arrangers, visual artists and storytellers as they explore the power of music to preserve tradition, shape cultural evolution and inspire hope.
Screenwave would like to thank the many wonderful supporters who have donated their time to this important cause: The Happy Frog, Jetty Memorial Theatre, Sawtell Ukulele Group, Yhan Leal, Any Entertainment, Coffs Coast Advocate and Fiasco Ristorante + Bar.
The only way to change the world is to come together and make a little noise.
