“Adam Driver’s Paterson will be treasured for years… truly special”- The Telegraph
Romance, life and effortless cool, director Jim Jarmusch is the master of understated style. His latest film Paterson is testament to the enduring power of poetry found in the smallest of details.
Paterson (Adam Driver, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), is a New Jersey bus driver with a hidden talent for writing poetry. Following the same routine each day, Paterson uses his observations while driving as inspiration for his writing; observing the city as it drifts across his windshield and overhearing fragments of conversation swirling around him. By contrast, Paterson’s quirky and ambitious wife, Laura (Golshifteh Farahani, About Elly) has new dreams come to her almost daily, each a different and inspired project. While Laura champions his gift for poetry, Paterson is reluctant to make any changes to his serene and comfortable world.
“Paterson is intended as a celebration of the poetry of details, variations and daily interactions and a kind of antidote to dark, heavily dramatic or action-oriented cinema. It’s a film one should just allow to float past them — like images seen from the window of a public bus, moving like a mechanical gondola through a small, forgotten city- Jim Jarmusch
