The Melbourne Ballet Company once again returns to the Jetty Memorial Theatre armed with works from three of Australia’s internationally acclaimed choreographers.

The new performance piece Empyrean  will feature contrasting works by distinctively different choreographers Timothy Harbour, Simon Hoy and Rani Luther.

Through this exhilarating and critically acclaimed triple-bill we explore the concept of Empyrean: outer sky, closest to purity and unconditional love. This
program focuses on all the positive elements of Picasso’s master work Guernica: is a world reigned over by harmony and light, and surrounds us with
a feeling of bliss in contrast to the prior anguish of illusion?

This program is a thrilling demonstration of cutting-edge contemporary ballet which takes the audience on a journey filled with passion, emotion and sheer
athleticism.

This stunning program of contemporary ballet is not to be missed, performed by a team of hightly regarded dancers- whom have developed their skills in some of the most renowned companies in the world.

Choreographers: Timothy Harbour (Resident Choreographer, The Australian Ballet), Rani Luther (The Australian Ballet, Netherlands Dans Company) and
MBC Directer and Resident Choreographer Simon Hoy (Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet New York, Carolina Ballet, Ballet Mainz, Germany).

Music: Ólafur Arnalds, Ludovico Einaudi, Chad Lawson, Vladimir Martynov, Max Richter, Erik Satie.
